Data Protection Statement

The information collected by SafeHome will be collected, stored and used in a manner that complies with the 1998 UK Data Protection Act.

People use SafeHome because they want to know about safety in their home or to help with research projects to make homes safer.

What will the information in SafeHome be used for?

SafeHome is maintained by injury prevention researchers at the School of Medicine, Swansea University, United Kingdom, as part of the Collaboration for Accident Prevention and Injury Control (CAPIC). We will use the information that you have provided to tell you how safe your home is compared to other similar homes.

We will also use this anonymous information for research purposes. The information collected by SafeHome will be used to study average differences in home safety in different areas and how these change over time. Since we are only asking for your postcode we will not be able to identify you directly and will make no attempt to do so. You do not have to supply a postcode to complete SafeHome but this information is very helpful to allow us to compare different areas of the country.

SafeHome is also designed to be able to help individual research projects. If you have agreed to take part in a research study and enter a unique research number or code into the option at the beginning we will supply a copy of the information to the organisation or group in charge of the research.
